Messaging configuration
This guide covers the settings in Settings > Messaging. You’ll set your default number, update Twilio credentials, and control how Talkyto handles incoming and outgoing messages.
Open Messaging settings
Section titled “Open Messaging settings”- Open the Talkyto App.
- Tap Settings in the bottom navigation bar.
- Select Messaging.
Phone number settings
Section titled “Phone number settings”Under Phone number settings, you configure the number used for messages.
- Default number — confirm the number you want Talkyto to use for SMS and MMS.
- Allow incoming SMS — check this box to receive messages on the selected number.
If the selected number isn’t yet configured with Talkyto, complete the setup before enabling incoming SMS. See First-time setup for details.
Refresh phone numbers
Section titled “Refresh phone numbers”If you added a new number in the Twilio Console and it doesn’t appear in Talkyto, tap Refresh. Talkyto syncs your number list from Twilio.
Update Messaging Credentials
Section titled “Update Messaging Credentials”If notifications are missing or failing, your Twilio push credentials may be out of sync. Tap Update Messaging Credentials to refresh the following:
- APN Mobile Push Credentials — required for push notifications on iOS
- FCM Mobile Push Credentials — required for push notifications on Android
Talkyto updates both automatically when you tap this option.
Update Messaging Service
Section titled “Update Messaging Service”If your Twilio Messaging Service settings have changed, tap Update Messaging Service to sync the latest configuration into Talkyto.
Use this option after modifying your Messaging Service in the Twilio Console or when troubleshooting message delivery issues.
Messaging Geographic Permissions
Section titled “Messaging Geographic Permissions”Before sending or receiving messages to or from certain regions, confirm that Twilio Messaging Geographic Permissions are enabled for those countries in your Twilio Console.
For OTP (one-time password) messages, Twilio requires approval for specific numbers before you can send to certain regions. Complete any required approval in the Twilio Console before attempting to send OTP messages internationally.
Number Select in SMS
Section titled “Number Select in SMS”Enable Number Select in SMS to choose which Twilio number to use each time you compose a message. This is useful when your account has multiple numbers and you want to control which number the recipient sees.
When this setting is off, Talkyto always uses your default number.
