Voice configuration
This guide covers the settings in Settings > Voice. You’ll set your default call number, update Twilio credentials, and control how Talkyto handles incoming and outgoing calls.
Open Voice settings
Section titled “Open Voice settings”- Open the Talkyto App.
- Tap Settings in the bottom navigation bar.
- Select Voice.
Phone number settings
Section titled “Phone number settings”Under Phone number settings, you configure the number used for calls.
- Default number — select the Twilio number Talkyto uses for outgoing calls.
- Allow incoming calls — check this box to receive calls on the selected number.
- Voicemail — check this box to enable voicemail for the number. For voicemail configuration options, see voicemail configuration.
Refresh phone numbers
Section titled “Refresh phone numbers”If you added a new number in the Twilio Console and it doesn’t appear in Talkyto, tap Refresh phone numbers. Talkyto syncs your number list from Twilio.
Update Voice Credentials
Section titled “Update Voice Credentials”If calls are failing, your Twilio app credentials may be out of sync. Tap Update Voice Credentials to refresh the following:
- TwiML Apps — the Twilio application that routes your calls
- VoIP Mobile Push Credentials — required for push notifications on incoming calls
- Firebase Cloud Messaging credentials — required for Android call notifications
Talkyto updates all three automatically when you tap this option.
Incoming and outgoing configuration
Section titled “Incoming and outgoing configuration”You can update Twilio configuration for each call direction independently:
- Update Incoming configuration — reconfigures the Twilio webhook for incoming calls on your number.
- Update Outgoing configuration — reconfigures the TwiML App for outgoing calls.
Use these options after changing Twilio settings manually or when troubleshooting specific call-direction issues.
Number Select
Section titled “Number Select”Enable Number Select to choose which Twilio number to use each time you place a call. This is useful when your account has multiple numbers and you want to control which caller ID the other party sees.
When this setting is off, Talkyto always uses your default number.
Geographic Permissions
Section titled “Geographic Permissions”Before calling a phone number in a specific country, verify that Twilio Voice Geographic Permissions are enabled for that country in your Twilio Console. Talkyto uses your Twilio account’s geo permissions — it can’t override them.
If a call to an international number fails, check your Twilio Geographic Permissions settings.
Account requirement
Section titled “Account requirement”An upgraded (paid) Twilio account is required to make and receive calls. Trial accounts don’t support outbound calling. If you’re on a trial, upgrade your Twilio account before configuring voice features.
